It’s a place where Stanley Cups and Gold Medals are won everyday…the backyard skating rink! We want you to show us where our future Olympians and NHL-ers are strapping on their blades and taking it to the ice with K-97’s Rock Out With Your Rink Out!

From January 10  – February 24, fill out the form below and submit a picture of your backyard rink.

Every Friday starting January 21, we will select one weekly winner and post their backyard rink to K-97’s Facebook Page (and this page) for bragging rights! Our weekly winner will also pick up a “self-propelled snow pusher” from the Lawnmower Hospital (aka a 24″ UHMW Garant Snow Shovel with a bag of Keg River Yukon Gold Ice Melter) to keep their ice-pad clean and clear of snow.

Everyone who enters a valid picture of their backyard rink will also be entered in the Grand Prize Draw for the Lawnmower Hospital‘s Toro Power Clear 518 ZE Electric Start Snow Thrower! We’ll announce the winner on the Terry Evans Show with Pete Potipcoe on February 28th.

Celly Hard
We have been putting up a rink in our back yard for 6 years now. Particularly in the last 3 seasons, it has given us our own space free of the crazy world. When we returned from holidays in March of 2020, I was able to salvage a few more weeks of ice when everything was closed. We even loaned it to a local player from the WHL, sent home from Seattle by the pandemic. It has given our family and friends hours of carefree fun.

Winner #6 – February 25

Patrick O’Neill of Sherwood Park

Ice is ready for an evening skate
Decided to make a rink for our grandson, although he was only one. We enjoy having family and friends over and all the neighbours kids are on it at every opportunity. Our son in law made us a lounge to lace up, warm up or just watch. Priceless memories

Winner #5 – February 18

Sharon Williams of Edmonton

Ice Rink
First year building a rink. Used a 20×40 chunk of plastic tarp. Built up the banks using snow. Took a couple days of water in the -24 weather. Had the sprinkler in it once. Smoothed it out by boiling pots of water. Using big bath towels. Dipped the bath towels in to the hot pots of water. Opened the towels up and wiped the ice surface. Hand zamboni. Worked like a beaut.

Winner #4 – February 11

Trevor Waschuk of Edmonton

The Waschuk’s Winter Wonderland
I built this 24 x 35 ft rink for my 2 daughters as part of our winter wonderland backyard (rink, toboggan run, snow fort, and fire). After a few years of trial and error working with our slopped yard, I’ve perfected it and added a red line, initial on center ice, and curling rings.

Winner #3 – February 4

Travis Kube of Edmonton

My Backyard Rink
3rd year making the rink. It’s been getting better each year. My 3 daughters love skating every night even -30.

Winner #2 – January 28

Matt Pulfer of Edmonton

Front yard, winter wonderland!
Why have a backyard rink, when you can have a front yard rink!! If the picture was taken in the other direction you can see the city skyline. Our perfect winter wonderland.

Winner #1 – January 21

Ryan Robb of Beaumont

Backyard Rink in Beaumont
Decided to build a backyard rink for the first time. Really happy with the results. Kids are on it almost every day. My yard slopes so much that one end has close to 1.5ft of ice and one end only has 3-4 inches lol.
